Resumo
O objetivo desse artigo é apresentar um estado da questão sobre as diferentes modalidades de propriedade
midiática reconhecidas na literatura científica. A raíz dos processos concentração dos meios que se tem experimentado nas últimas décadas e o surgimento de leis que regulam esse aspecto, o estudo das formas de propriedade midiática tornou-se em um tema importante para o campo da comunicação pela influência da propriedade na qualidade do jornalismo e a democracia. Porém, muitas investigações padecem de indefinição teórica, escassa problematização da categoria, embates terminológicos e não crescem os
trabalhos dedicados a compendiar e sistematizar as diferentes modalidades de propriedade midiática que
existem na atualidade. A metodologia usada para construir o estado da questão apresentado aqui foi a revisão bibliográfica-documental. A análise da investigação gerada em diferentes áreas do campo da comunicação, possibilitou identificar e recuperar as características das formas de propriedade midiática caracterizadas neste artigo. Daí que o principal valor desse artigo está em reunir, sistematizar e caracterizar, a partir de seis dimensões padronizadas, as nove principais formas de propriedade sob as que operam os meios de comunicação: privada individual, privado coletivo, fundações sem ânimo de lucro, cooperativa,
organizações midiáticas não lucrativas, comunitária, organizações políticas e a sociedade civil, pública e
governamental.
