Abstract

This article is derived from the research which was carried out by the Program of Business Administration in the University of Medellin over 'The Last Three Antioquian Don’s'. These latter are: Don Santiago Mejia Olarte, Don Carlos Manuel Echavarria Toro, and Don Julio Ernesto Urrea Urrea. The aim this article orientated was to highlight the urge and interest of these three entrepreneurs in contributing to the social and economical development of the region; and to furthermore characterize and distinguish such a particular style of directing and administrating businesses which was that of the Don’s, and likewise to demonstrate how some entrepreneurs have managed to unit the economical purposes with the spirit of
serving other people. The technique of life story was used as a method to gather the testimonies of their collaborators and ex-collaborators. This topic of interests contributes to showing young people other human 'paradigms' which would act as a reference to their own life projects and would constitute a different alternative
to 'making easy money and no matter how' without caring for the others.
