Abstract
El derecho de daños en general y en particular la responsabilidad civil que emana de daños causados por productos y servicios defectuosos son una parte importante de los sistemas modernos de protección al consumidor. En el presente trabajo se abordan las funciones y objetivos que debe cumplir la responsabilidad por productos y servicios defectuosos. A posteriori, y sobre la base de la evolución de los distintos Restatement of the Law of Torts norteamericanos, se exponen valoraciones sobre las formas de alcanzar una protección adecuada para el consumidor/víctima.
