Abstract
 El Crimen del Aguacatal inquietó a la poblaÂción de Medellín a finales del siglo XIX. Pero Botero, yendo más allá, no se limita solo a reÂgistrar meticulosamente este múltiple asesinato, el proceso posterior y todo lo que implicó para la cultura antioqueña de aquel entonces. TamÂbién aprovecha este caso para observar cómo la literatura, acompasada con la prensa (motor de la opinión pública), se articuló con el derecho, para lograr fines políticos perceptibles en indaÂgaciones históricas a largo plazo
