Abstract

Billboard history and evolution in Colombia has been founded on the influence of modern movements. In order to understand artistic relationships and their persuasive function since the end of the 19th century and early the 20th century, important movements of the period are mentioned. Art deco, for instance, is outstanding for its stylish zig-zag shapes and art nouveau, instead, characterizes for its particular organic elements and female silhouettes. This article is part of a research on the iconological and iconographic analysis of billboard in Colombia between 2000 and 2010.
